Swans & Dragons

Hells Angels from Portugal

For our last day in Prague we decided that the only “must do” left on our list was to take a paddle boat out onto the river. Prague appears to have been built where there were rapids in the river (the perfect location for exacting tolls from boats going up and down as well as people trying to cross). Now the river has wiers in it, small concrete walls that gradually step the river down with locks on the sides for boats to go through. We took a paddle boat out for a trip and a leisurely lunch. When we got out on the river we discovered that there were Dragon boat races going on so we got to watch them up close and personal.

Being spring time it was baby time on the river. We saw little tiny ducklings who could run across the top of the water when they needed to get closer to mom quickly, a little big bigger ducklings who could submerge completely to get goodies off the bottom of the river, little black river ducklings who weren’t old enough to go into the water yet and cygnets (baby swans). We seemed to have run into a Hell’s Angels convention or something. We saw guys in Hell’s Angels jackets from Ireland, Switzerland, Portugal and Luxembourg. Luxembourg? Yep Luxembourg – doesn’t quite fit does it?
