More of the Adriatic

Typical waterfront town - Bakar

Rather than driving back on the freeway, we decided to drive down the coast as far as Senj and pop over the mountains and back onto a freeway at that point. The road was great! Twisty with views of the Mediterranean and the towns perched on the hills overlooking it. We had a great dinner in Senj, a fish platter for two. It had sea bass, gilded head fish, shrimp, mussels, squid all cooked on the grill and served over French fries and a wonderful concoction of spinach, potatoes, butter and garlic. The road up from the sea to the pass over the 1st set of mountains made Bear long for his Miata. Just over the pass we connected with the freeway and came home through a driving rain storm. They build a lot more tunnels here than we do. Bear says it is because the limestone is easier to tunnel through than our granite. One tunnel was over 3 ½ miles long!
